As more women forge successful careers in diverse areas of science, the notion of the profession being dominated by "men wearing white coats in a lab" seems something of an anachronism. Despite changing social perceptions and an ever increasing contribution of female scientists, only 16% of Australians qualified in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) are women, according to the Office of the Chief Scientist. Join us for a spirited discussion of the role of women in 21st century science as panellists discuss their areas of expertise, how they have overcome challenges and achieved their goals, and the many opportunities opening up for future female innovators and scientists in Australia and globally.
